ABOUT US

Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, popularly known as CIMAP, is a frontier plant research laboratory of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). Established originally as Central Indian Medicinal Plants Organisation (CIMPO) in 1959, CIMAP is steering multidisciplinary high quality research in biological and chemical sciences and extending technologies and services to the farmers and entrepreneurs of medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs) with its research headquarter at Lucknow and Research Centres at Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pantnagar and Purara. CIMAP Research Centres are aptly situated in different agro-climatic zones of the country to facilitate multi-location field trials and research. BCF Services Highlights

Institutional Biology Central Facility (BCF) is functional with high end instruments like Automated Capillary Genetic Analyser, Real Time PCR system, MALDI-TTOF-TOF, Flowcytometer, Ultracentrifuge etc.  Other basic instruments required for day to day research activity have also been installed in the BCF. Complete list of equipments available in BCF is enclosed.

Establishment of a repository of microbial cultures has also been initiated.  Various microbial cultures available with different scientists and departments at CSIR-CIMAP are being collected and maintained. The repository is named as ‘CIMAP Microbial Culture Collection (CMCC)’.  At present around 200 distinct microbial cultures are available in the repository for the use of CSIR-CIMAP scientists.

Institutional Chemical Central Facility (CCF) is functional with high end instruments like GC, GC-MS, NMR, HPLC and LC MS MS. The main activities at the facility are :

1. Quantitative & qualitative identification of bioactive markers in various medicinal plants using HPLC & LCMSMS

2. Quantitative & qualitative identification of essential oil with GC and GCMS

3. Physical properties of essential oil by refractometer, polarimeter and densitometer

4. Structural eludication of natural product marker with help of NMR
