•Process technology for the processing of Mentha arvensis oil & D.M.O for production of menthol crystals ( Flakes & bold) and value added products •The department is working on extraction and isolation of lead molecules for bioactive studies, pilot scale evaluation of new varieties, up scaling of process technologies for techno economic evaluations, designing of extraction and distillation units for farmers, industries and entrepreneurs and transferring of technologies to the industries. •The department is also doing R&D on value added bio-chemicals production from spent aromatic (lignocellulosic) biomasses. |

Process technology and plant design for production of hepatoprotective drug silymarin from seeds of Silybum marianum. Process technology and plant design for production of high quality rose oil and water from the flowers of Rosa damascene. Improved process technology for production of concrete and absolute of tuberose, rose & jasmine flowers. Process technology and plant design for the production of natural insecticide pyrethrum oleoresin from pyrethrum flowers. Improved Process technology and plant design for production of juice, sap, gel & powder from Aloe vera. Process technology for extraction of curcumin from Curcuma longa and piperene from piper nigerum. Improved distillation technologies for essential oils from Mints, Vetiver, Patchouli, Lemongrass, Basil, Palmarosa, Citronella, nagarmotha etc. Process technologies for fractionation, derivitisation and value addition of essential oils like citral ex lemongrass oil, geraniol ex palmarosa etc. |

Developing efficient technologies for production of essential oils, aroma chemicals, medicinal plant extracts and drugs of high commercial value and export potential for applications in perfumery, food, flavor, insecticide, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. Scaling up of promising bench scale technologies to pilot plant level for generation of design data by conducting trials at pilot plant level Designing of efficient equipments for the processing of medicinal and aromatic plants by distillation, fractionation and extraction. Providing technical support for designing, fabrication, installation and commissioning of processing units for MAPs Preparation of design drawings, flow sheets, techno economic feasibility and project reports for prospective clients Providing hands on training on pilot plant for entrepreneurs for processing of medicinal and aromatic plants. R&D on use of renewable source i.e zero cost spent aromatic crops biomass as raw material for the synthesis of useful chemicals. |
